The Regional Biodiversity Team is looking for a Biodiversity Information Analyst for a permanent role in our Central office. The team contributes to the delivery of Auckland Council's Biodiversity strategy - which sets the vision for the future that "Auckland's indigenous biodiversity is flourishing and treasured". The information analyst position requires a strong knowledge of NZ biodiversity, data management and GIS, matched with a great customer support and advice ethic.
The primary purpose of the role is to assist the management and development of regional biodiversity inventories and databases, and spatial mapping to support positive biodiversity actions and outcomes in Auckland. You will work with the team to contribute to research design, collection, analysis and interpretation of survey data and to inform biodiversity protection and management. The provision of timely and customer-focused responses to information requests from internal and external stakeholders is a critical component of the role.
The position requires a broad technical ecological background, proven data management analysis, database storage, presentation and ESRI ArcGIS mapping capabilities, and ideally experience in a government agency setting. Experience with the management of geological heritage resources is desirable. In addition, you will have excellent communication skills and experience dealing with people in a customer service capacity.
These skills and experience will be underpinned by at least a Bachelor's degree in ecology, environmental science, or related a discipline. A full driver's licence is also required.
